My Favourite Kitchen Hardware

When I was designing my kitchen last spring, there we certain things that were a must, one of those being cabinet latches, as well as brass hardware. This is something I briefly spoke about in my Instagram stories the other day but I thought it deserved a blog post. I feel very strongly about picking quality hardware for your kitchen (bathroom, mudroom etc)! I think that whether you are doing a full kitchen reno or just wanting to give your kitchen a refresh, I think hardware has the ability to make a huge impact!

Quality (and beautiful on trend) hardware can be expensive, but it’s something you don’t want to look back on with regret, especially in a kitchen. Kitchen hardware is something you use every day, multiple times a day. I really believe its the make or break of great design in a kitchen. I am all about saving money/hacks/dupes but when it comes to this, I don’t think I will ever buy lesser quality to save money in my kitchen.

When I was recently giving a little refresh to our bathroom, I tried to buy some cheaper pulls/knobs and Chris immediately knew they were poor quality – if he notices something like that, you will definitely notice.
Another thing that I will mention about this is that when you buy from good quality stores such as Rejuvenation, all of their hardware is something you can easily mix and match because it’s their own product, so you’re guaranteed to be able to buy knobs, pulls, and latches, in the same colour, and have them match. Emtek is another great example of great-quality cabinet hardware!
The hardware in my kitchen is unlacquered brass, which I know isn’t for everyone. It looks beautiful and shiny when you first buy it but it ages with time. The beauty of it, though, is that you can easily polish it to make it look brand new again!
Emma, your cabinets are stunning. I need to get my cabinet refinishing done for my kitchen renovation. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Love your kitchen! Is it a āno noā to mix finishes? For example, Iām looking to use polished chrome sink and pot filler, but with brushed brass hardware? Thoughts? Thank you!
Mixing metals is definitely okay and actually pretty on trend right now. The general rule that I would suggest is only mix two different metals, and repeat it at least twice! Polished chrome sink (and faucet?) and pot filler = 2, brushed brass hardware – I’d maybe add a light or something else brushed brass too! Hope this helps!
Iām in the US and there is a company that sells cabinet doors for ikea as well but I wanted to ask you, did the company you used painted the cabinets in the color you chose or did you?
I keep coming back to your kitchen for inspiration for mine but have a hard time designing it because it is smaller š
The company I used painted it in the custom colour I asked for! They ship to the US as well. I found the ikea kitchen planner great and that’s what you need to send to AllStyle for them to make the cabinet fronts and other panels.
Where can I find details about the vent hood!? I think o Dawkins DIY but is it wood? Would love to know more!
Looks amazing! Thank you for sharing all these details? One question: are the Vernon bin pulls 3 inches or 4 inches?
4 inches, I have one 3 inch one on the garbage. I ordered those to begin with and realized they were too small and had to order the 4 inch ones after
Unfortunately because it involves a bit of electrical I don’t share any tutorials on how to do this. If you search these projects on Pinterest/Google you will get a general idea about framing in the vent hood and covering it.
Hi Emma,
Beautiful kitchen. Thanks for all your tips and sharing your knowledge
I am in the process of renovating the kitchen And in search of a white tile. Would you mind sharing what type of tile you used? I can tell is white subway tile… But it looks different, not the regular kind.
Also, what grout color did you use?
Thanks in advanced
Hi Maria, all of the kitchen details can be found in this post including the exact tile, colour, and grout https://emmacourtneyhome.com/kitchen-reno-details-links-faqs/#Timeless_Backsplash_Tiles
Thanks,
Emma
Hi there, your kitchen is perfection! Would you mind sharing if you used the small or the large cupboard latch from rejuvenation? Iām currently in the ordering phase, but our cabinets arenāt here yet and Iām so torn on which size to get.
I got the large! Good luck with your reno! x
Hello,
The links to your hardware are broken and it says contact you!
I’m remodeling a 1955 house with lots of real brass hardware and would love to find a source for more! Thank you!
I just checked and it seems to be working for me, but try this instead https://liketk.it/3EDw0
