Assembly Steps:

  1. Assemble the IKEA cabinets.
  2. Build a Base: You will likely want to build a 2×4 base for the cabinets to sit on. This base allows you to add baseboard/trim and stops your cabinet drawers or doors from scraping along the floor (especially if they are not level).
    • Attach this base to the floor and add the cabinets on top.

  1. Frame the Bed: Use IKEA Sektion cabinets to create the base of your bed. Arrange them to form a rectangle, ensuring there’s enough support for the mattress.

For our space, we used the IKEA cabinets along the front of the bed with drawers for storage. Then, the back part of the bed needs framing with 2x4s for support. We even added a hidden lift-top for extra storage using a piano hinge.

    1. Secure the Units: Fasten the cabinets together with screws and screw through the bottom of the cabinets into the 2×4 base to secure them.
    2. Add the Top: Place a piece of plywood over the cabinets to serve as the bed’s platform. Ensure that 2x4s along the back support this if the cabinets have no support. Secure it in place.

          2. I don’t – It was a bit unique due to the bump in the wall however, I am positive there are some great arch bookcase tutorials out there!

          3. It’s hard to say because so much was happening with this project including dividing the room. If I had to guess, under $1000
