Red Velvet Strawberry Shortcake

I made this cake for my Grandma’s birthday back in November – so good!

I saw the idea on i am baker.

Really simple and delicious cake!


Red Velvet Box Cake Mix

Vanilla Box Cake Mix

Whipping Cream


Strawberry Jam


Bake both the vanilla and red velvet cakes. 

One box should make two 8″ cake sponges – in total you will have 4 cake sponges.

Let the cakes cool completely!

While you are waiting, wash and cut the strawberries in to little pieces.

When the cakes are cool, start whipping the cream. 

Real whipped cream is the best for this cake. You can add 2 tablespoons of sugar per one cup of whipping cream to taste – it makes the whipped cream even better!

Now, take the bottom sponge, and put a thin layer of strawberry jam on it, and then add some of the strawberries on top. The strawberry jam is just to make the cake taste more strawberry-like.

Now, take the next sponge and add a thin layer of whipped cream to the bottom. Place the whipped cream side down on top of the strawberry sponge.

Continue this process of adding the strawberries and whipped cream until you reach the top.

Now for the final touch, you are going to cover the whole cake in the remainder of whipped cream.

I added two strawberries on the top for decoration!

Seriously a delicious cake that everyone loved!
