Chai Spice Cookies

I love spice cookies – another great cookie recipe!

Adapted from a recipe by My Baking Addiction.


  • 2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 ¾ cups of granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon of ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black
  • 1 cup of softened butter
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract


Preheat the oven to 350°F

Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

In a separate bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom,
allspice, finely ground black pepper. Remove ¼ cup of this mixture and set
aside.With a mixer, beat together the sugar-spice mixture with the softened butter
until fluffy. Add in the vanilla and egg, and mix.Slowly blend the dry mixture to the wet mixture. 

If the mixture is a little dry, this may be because of the size of egg you are using. Add another egg, or a little water until it is a cookie dough consistency.

Scoop balls of the dough (2
teaspoons) and roll in the ¼ cup of sugar-spice mixture.

Bake on a greased or lined baking sheet for 8-10 minutes.

Let cool for 2 minutes on baking sheet before moving to a cooling rack.
